The BEST mexican pastries in the nation.

The bakery is fresh, delicious, and cheap! However, I did not know what any of the items were as there were not signs identifying them. You get what you want off of the bakery trays. Definitely worth checking out!

Hands down my favorite bakery of all south city. Probably should extend that to all of the bay area. Everything is fresh and super cheap. Everything is soooo delicious. They are the reason I can never stuck to a diet. My husband knows my favorites are the conchas and the Chocolate chip cookies. He brings them home at least 3 times, if not more a week. They are so yummy I can never say no. One of the reasons I will not move back to Florida is because I could never have conchas like these over there.

Excellent Mexican pastries! Came here one late night with hubby and got a few freshly baked conchas! I was told they bake them fresh every 15 minutes. The concha taste much like pan de sal topped with polvoron. My family loves it!

Best panaderia (Mexican bakery) in the Bay Area hands down. Everything is fresh, tasty and authentic. It's so good that I can't eat pan dulce from anywhere else. The staff is super nice and helpful too.

Fabulous! Such great smells coming from this building. We entered to A great selection of pastries and helpful people. We are from out of state and didn't know what the pastries were but workers explained and were so nice to us. Great prices and such delicious food!!! Loved the conchas straight from the oven.

We love this bakery! Their Jalapeo bread with cream cheese and their Conchas (especially when it's fresh - almost always) are favorites in our household. You can ask them what time they will be baking a particular bread that you like so you can always get it hot/fresh from the oven.

Best pan dulce around, they melt in your mouth! We come all the way from Oakland just for these. Delicious breads (soft not bready and dry ) made fresh throughout the day & super affordable. Friendly service. Support your local business!

Don't be fooled by the rough exterior. The smell of fresh baked bread will lure you in! Fresh hot pan dulce (that's sweet bread in Spanish) that you help yourself from trays of bread that just came out of the oven. Like the croissant stuffed with pineapple jelly super soft and gooey when you bite into it! Yum! The cheese croissants and regular croissants are delish too! I haven't tried the conchas (bread shaped like round seashells) in a variety of colors and flavors but that's on my list to try next time. The croissant style pastries always tempts me whenever I patronize this neighborhood bakery. A must try! Just make sure they charge you the right price for each piece of bread as there are no prices posted. Two weeks ago I was quoted .99 cents each piece but today it was quoted as 1.25 "because they are stuffed." I think she thought I had 3 stuffed croissants when I had 3 regular and one stuffed with pineapple jelly plus the cheese ones are stuffed but we're .99 cents the last time. Idk.

I am so amazed at how this bread reminds me of my childhood in Mexico! Not only was it freshly made and warm still at 7pm, but also affordable. Definitely coming back. My only drawback was trying to find a parking spot....

Great Mexican Bakery but hard to find. Lots of racks with fresh baked goodies. They also will custom make rolls, bread, and other items. We will have them make us "mini" torta buns for our next event.

The absolute BEST Mexican pan dulce (sweet bread) in the Bay! Have been coming here since I was child. Used to be 'El Gallo Bakery' but when the original owner passed away the daughters took over. Always a friendly service and very reasonable prices. For Dia de la Rosca there is always a long line waiting to PRE-order because if you wait til the day of, chances are you won't get a fresh Rosca. Their bread is always fresh and soft and warm. They also have a coffee and Milk to sale. Cash only, no plastic!

Las Hijas del Gallo has THE best pan dulce in the bay. The conchas are super soft and always warm and fresh out of the oven. We're from San Jose and always make it a point to get bread when we're in the area.

The bread taste very fresh. There isn't good places to get good Mexican pan dulce in sf anymore but this place is the best of what is left.

My name is Bertina Marcelo I have gone there to buy sweet Mexican pastry or Pan dulce for my personal use them for donations. It is the greatest sweet friend I've ever had in San Francisco California. They are friendly and inside they serve our community. If you belong to any organization I would recommend this place to get your pan dulce for any ocasin or just to with your morning coffee. If you are like me at anytime of the day!!

NO PLACE IN BAY AREA WHERE YOU CAN SEE HOW THE BAKERS WORK. 7 days a week Fresh PAN DULCE!!!

The drive from where we were staying in the Marina district to Las Hijas was really scenic and well worth the effort. Though small this Mexican bakery had racks and racks of fresh pan dulce. I decided to try the custard filled empanadas since I only have had them as tapas. So glad I was curious--they were out of this world so yummy and my new favorite pan dulce! Before this, conchas warm out of the oven have always been my very favorite ever since I was little and consider myself a concha connoisseur. A really good concha should be airy and spongy and just like what pan dulce translated means-sweet bread. Maybe my timing was wrong, the conchas I got weren't warm but still good and NOT dry! I also got cuellos (I think that's how you spell it) and a Mexican wedding cake cookie which are my other favorites. Both were good but the sweet empanadas were WOW, mouth watering!

I'm very disappointed...that I learned about this place so late in life! I feel that I've been cheated, deprived, and played by all of the other panaderias that I've spent the last 25 years patronizing. The bread here is OUTSTANDING in variety, flavor, texture, freshness, and price.

When I first walked in I was underwhelmed by the small selection of pastries behind the glass and THEN I discovered the racks and racks of fresh warm bread just beyond the front of the store. I'm a huge fan of the "Elote", a corn shaped sweet bread with a yellow interior and coated in sugary goodness, so I looked through the racks and found them. Heavenly. So so fresh and good. (See pic)

Everything else I got was also delicious even after a couple of days at home stored in a ziplock bag. There's something super authentic about the flavor of their bread. I think it's the cinnamon. I'm not entirely sure, but feels like Mexico.

I am waiting for an opportunity to go back for a warm concha because they were sold out when I got there; nevertheless, five stars.
